Major Trend Alert!!!! Art Deco Jewelry………

The amazing response to our art deco jewelry has been kind of a surprise! Several months ago I bought a few pieces for to sell on the site just because I thought it was unique and interesting. Right away several magazine editors requested samples and so far two major fashion magazines have featured it! This necklace in Redbook is adorable and the pendant can also be taken off of the chain and worn as a brooch. My favorite Art deco piece so far this season is a necklace that I just picked up. It has all the elements, polished stone, wood, crystals and that beautiful high gloss plastic…talk about interesting! Here is our new Adrianne Necklace $16.00

Perhaps the biggest surprise hit of the season for us is this fascinating Art Deco Ring featured in InStyle. You would be amazed at how many customers have ordered one every color. For $10 who can blame them, talk about a conversation piece!

!
I had the pleasure of attending the spring/summer 2008 fashion accessories show this past weekend in Los Angeles. What a treat for the eyes, crayola colors and candy bights were everywhere! Now, I know the majority of the country is bundled up in their winter coats at the moment so; it’s a little hard to picture yourself in a bright floral sundress, strappy sandals and bright orange patent leather clutch bag! Just rest assured warm weather isn’t that far off which means sporting these new irresistibly cheerful styles is almost here!!
Take our fun poll!!
Hitting newsstands this Thursday 1/17/08 is my favorite celebrity trend following magazine People Stylewatch! Our bag Tamara $52 was featured in a story with Jessica Simpson as seen below. Thanks PSW!!

That’s me, Heather working in our new store!
In the spirit of the New Year, I’m trying something new…blogging!
I know, another blog! But, people are curious about shopsueyboutique.com and I miss being able to share my personality with you. The once secret sort of cult favorite accessories website got noticed last year by the press and was featured in countless magazines (even Oprah…wow!). With all the great publicity and amazing new business came lots of growing pains. Sadly, I feel I sort of lost my connection with you and have become just another handbag website, in a giant sea of handbag websites! My New Year’s resolution is to change that feeling and my hope is that this blog will connect us again. Don’t worry, it won’t be another blog regurgitating celebrity fashion and gossip…you hear enough of that! But, I hope it will be a way for you to peek inside Shop-Suey Boutique and see that we are real people working here just like you, struggling to stay in fashion!
XO, Heather
This is completely unexpected and truly appreciated! Thank you Quick & Simple Magazine for your nice words. Click: Trisha Satchel to view the bag they featured.

After much coercion, I finally got our local apron maker to write up her bio…which is just as charming as her new apron line. I may not be much of a cook but, at least I look good trying! Thanks Amber!!
City Girl Apron’s Bio
City Girl Aprons founder Amber Pratt is a fashion designer but spent a considerable amount of time in the kitchen making wedding cakes and pastries for friends. Amber is always in an apron. She was taught to wear an apron even to do household chores! “I love how everything in the home has become so chic and contemporary so I thought to create an apron line that would represent those trends.” When Amber set out to design these aprons in February ’07, she wanted to show traces of vintage styling but remain contemporary. The line also has a very flattering fit which is priority even for an apron. Amber always says, “there is never an excuse to not be chic and on trend”.
Amber is alumni of Los Angeles Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising ’03. Since then she has worked in design for notable sportswear and dress companies where she learned high standards for quality and integrity of work. Also there she gained a rolodex of contacts and resources, perfect for starting a company.
City Girl Aprons is also a tribute to Amber’s grandmother Ruby Leach who had a line of fancy hostess aprons during the 50’s, which sold to department stores. She taught the women in Amber’s family her meticulous talent for sewing and design and constant apron wearing. It trickled down a few generations and now she’s doing the same thing her grandmother did 50 years ago!
Amber is proudly located in Redlands California and commutes to Los Angeles to source and manufacture for City Girl Aprons.

No, I really did, isn’t that awful!! But, I was afraid that nothing else in my closet would fit! I celebrated the holidays in the most delicious way this year; it was a pleasure to balloon up! Since we opened our store we have been the recipients of some pretty yummy treats. Holiday gifts of giant boxes of Godiva, See’s Candy and the homemade baked goods, mmmmm! I’m sad to see the season end but, I do miss wearing the other stuff in my closet! There is one good accessorizing trick that I can share with you when you’re feeling plump….wear a really cute headband. It diverts the eyes off of the hips and on to your cute face!
What are some of your accessorizing tips for feeling slimmer?
